Watercolor for Spring Catalogue

2011 Spring Beauty Catalogue:
It's a 68 page book with the company's products on them with my watercolor (for the first time!) backgrounds. People loved it, but all the credit goes to God. 30,000 copies were printed for US and Canada. If you don't have fun making it, who would enjoy looking at it, right?

How it was made:
Earlier this year, I got a tape from about 30 years ago from my husband. He said it's a tape recording of his voice when he was a little boy. I got to listen to the tapes finally when I got an old Camry still with tape recorder on it. His voice was full of energy and happiness, and the things he said made me laugh out loud. He was so cute that it made me cry. He sang to the superhero songs he liked, giggled at the smallest things. Then those things took shape in my art. Blissful, spontaneous emotions came over me and I had to make art. When I suggested to my boss to do watercolor for backgrounds, I prayed. The night before, my husband made me midnight snack so I can paint the proposal. He cheered for me every time I did art. And this is where it went. Painted about 30 of 11 x 15's in two days, scanned them, put them in layout, and there you have a catalogue! :)

This blue bleeds very easily, so it's my favorite paint to use.

I love primary colors for watercolor because they come out so vibrant.

Experimenting with complimentary colors. They did surprisingly well.

My favorite piece. Used it for posters, too.

30 x 40 poster used for company showroom.

So big thanks go my awesome hubby and God!!!
