Photo Editing

I wanted to share some things that I do for living: Photo Editing. I've been doing it for the past 5 years and half, and it's part of me now...We take a photo and 'enhance' it to make it look prettier, in essence. It's like a makeup for photos It's difficult to see what's been done because it's supposed to look 'natural'...or at least I try to. Here's an example of photo editing:

Can't see the difference? Look again at the eyebrows, eye brightness, lips, fingertips, hair, and skin texture. That's how you make those models look so good in ads, by editing everything.

Easy rule of thumb to make a portrait look better is to brighten the eye white with "Dodge" tool found in Photoshop, and brighten up the levels to even out skin tone. Then darken the outer corners of the eyes with "Burn" tool a couple of times. That was easy!

Anyways, even I find it strange that we have to do these things to pictures...so don't believe anything you see on magazines and TV, they're so made up. Anyways, it's a good skill to have when you have a dark, dark picture from family vacation or something... :)
